Communications Manager – Part Time (15-20 hours/week)
Description:
BuildPalestine is a young social enterprise founded in 2016 with the mission to connect supporters around the world with innovative, social-impact projects. We are looking for an exceptional communications manager to help our team improve overall communication efforts.
The BuildPalestine Membership Community, Under the Olive Tree, is a network of Palestinians and supporters of Palestine who contribute monthly to support social innovation in Palestine. The communications manager will be responsible for overall communication for BuildPalestine, as well as communication material specific to Under the Olive Tree.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Communications Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, a deep understanding of social impact, and a commitment to advancing social innovation in Palestine. The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in amplifying our message, engaging our community, and driving fundraising efforts to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Storytelling: Write compelling stories profiling BuildPalestine fellows and other social innovators in Palestine, highlighting their impact and showcasing their initiatives.
- Email Campaigns: Develop and execute email campaigns to engage and inform the wider BuildPalestine network, driving awareness and participation in our programs and initiatives.
- Blogging: Author monthly blog posts with an investigative lens, exploring topics related to social innovation, alternative aid structures, and the pursuit of “real impact” in Palestine.
- Podcast Support: Support the launch and production of our podcast, collaborating with team members and external partners to create engaging and informative content.
- Website Optimization: Propose and implement changes to the BuildPalestine website, optimizing content for search engine optimization (SEO) to increase visibility and reach.
- Fundraising Material: Draft compelling fundraising materials, including appeals, donor updates, and campaign collateral, to raise awareness and support for BuildPalestine’s work.
- Member Communication: Manage communication with members of Under the Olive Tree community, ensuring timely and relevant updates, engagement opportunities, and support resources.
- Digital Marketing Support: Create compelling impact stories for BuildPalestine social media channels.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably managing communications for a nonprofit organization.
- Deep passion for social impact and social innovation in Palestine.
- Understanding of alternative aid structures and a commitment to driving sustainable solutions.
- Familiarity with marketing analytics and the ability to derive insights and recommendations from data.
- Experience in digital fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Arabic is desirable.
- Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
