While a ceasefire has been declared, the devastation in Gaza remains profound. The genocide has left catastrophic damage to human life, homes, infrastructure, and the environment. Palestinians in Gaza continue to face severe restrictions on aid, ongoing displacement, and alarming levels of need. Global solidarity remains as urgent as ever
At BuildPalestine, we are committed to being a steward of solidarity for Palestine in ways that affirm Palestinian self-determination, agency, and liberation. We believe that genuine impact in Palestine – whether it’s emergency humanitarian aid or investments in education and the economy – is best achieved through direct action and cooperation, outside of unjust systems of power.
We encourage supporters of Palestine to think differently about how we support aid and development in Palestine by prioritizing mutual aid, social innovators, and local organizations. There are also international organizations whose work is driven by the voices and perspectives of local communities, and we have included some of them here.

Zakat-Eligible Organizations Supporting Palestine
The Sameer Project – A grassroots mutual aid initiative providing direct support to families in Gaza through emergency aid, food, and essential supplies distributed through trusted local networks.
Taawon – Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in 1983 by a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon today is one of the largest developmental organizations in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon. It touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians annually. Taawon’s programs supporting education and Palestinian orphans are zakat-eligible.
Healing Our Homeland – A diaspora-led fundraising initiative mobilizing global solidarity to deliver urgent humanitarian relief and essential supplies to families affected by the genocide in Gaza.
UNRWA – The UN agency providing essential services for Palestinian refugees, including food assistance, healthcare, education, and emergency relief for millions of Palestinians, especially in Gaza.
Islamic Relief Worldwide– An international humanitarian organization providing Zakat-eligible aid, including food distributions, medical assistance, and emergency relief for vulnerable communities in Gaza.
Heal Palestine – A nonprofit providing life-saving medical care, humanitarian relief, and psychological support to injured and vulnerable Palestinian children, particularly in Gaza.
Mutual Aid Funds
At a time when infrastructure is severely damaged and foreign aid is scarcely making it into Gaza, mutual aid is effective in delivering immediate aid. People in Gaza are asking us to support mutual aid networks, as this is one of the most immediate ways for Gazans to access aid.
Here are mutual aid networks that are actively supporting people on the ground at this time and have been shared with BuildPalestine through trusted colleagues.
Nourishing Hope for Gaza is a BuildPalestine initiative that identifies, supports, and amplifies trusted grassroots efforts in Gaza through crowdfunding. We vet active crowdfunding campaigns led locally in Gaza. Once approved, we boost them through our network and partners to help raise $5,000–$10,000 per campaign. Once a goal is met, we move to the next. All funds go directly to the campaign organizers. Support the campaigns here.
Hakini is a Palestinian social enterprise and BuildPalestine Fellow that provides mental health services in Palestine and around the world and is a BuildPalestine fellow whom we have been working with for three years. The team at Hakini has set up an emergency hotline to provide psychological first aid for the people of Gaza, and operates through a network of local health care providers to support the psychological needs of people on the ground, with an emphasis on collective healing. In partnership with BuildPalestine, Hakini is running a crowdfunding campaign to continue this work. Learn more about their plans and donate here.
The PRCS, a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is one of the largest healthcare service providers in Palestine. They’ve been working tirelessly to support the affected Palestinian population in Gaza during this catastrophic time.

Gaza Soup Kitchen runs a network of kitchens, providing daily hot meals and clean drinking water to those in need. Each kitchen is strategically located to reach as many families as possible, ensuring access to essential nourishment and support. Donate to them here.
CFTA is one of the largest and most active networks in the Gaza Strip, continuing to support displaced people in Rafah with medical services, as well as education and entertainment for children. Support them here.
Sunbula Sunbula, a charitable organization based in Jerusalem, has initiated an urgent campaign to provide support to its two Gaza-based partners, Atfaluna and Sulafa, groups that provide income generation opportunities and critical services to hundreds of marginalized people, including women, refugees, and persons with hearing disabilities. Dalia is presently directing all resources and donations received from the Gaza Fund to provide support to the people of Gaza with immediate needs. They are actively engaged in offering assistance to Gaza workers who are stuck in the West Bank. For those interested in contributing, the donation link can be found here.
Taawon’s ISNAD program provides scholarships to university students in Gaza to complete their studies online in vital fields such as nursing, pharmacology, education, and fields compatible with online freelancing careers.
MECA works in partnership with local organizations to protect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East through aid, empowerment, and education. Donate to their Palestine Emergency campaign here.
AFSC works to bring together people of all faiths and backgrounds to challenge injustice and build peace around the globe. In addition to taking a clear stance and calling for a ceasefire, they are delivering on the-ground-aid. Donate here.
Established in 1978 by Palestinian-American professionals, UPA works with local partners to deliver aid. The Emergency Relief Fund is partnered with Al Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem. Donate here.
